Dr. Orevillo-Montenegro's book is very readable. She pulls in scholarship from various denominations, genders, and countries of Asia. She does a beautiful job of showing how Asian women experience Jesus as loving despite the trauma of colonialist missionary activity. But, she also talks about missionaries that did some good work albeit with the a handicap of their own European upbringing. This book opened my eyes to the grace of God in the midst of harsh reality. It is a good book for those interested in theology off the well-worn Eurocentric male path.

This book was required reading for a class, so I went into it open-minded. Unfortunately, in the relationship between reader and author, I was the only one open minded. The author has nothing positive to say about Christianity, nor about anyone of the male persuasion. Highly offensive, ignorantly unprofessional, and dripping with undocumented generalizations.

Except for a strong attack on colonialism in the sense that Asian womens' oppression is the result of Christian missionary activity - as if non-Christian women are completely unoppressed and certainly were unoppressed as a class before Christianity - the same radical feminist christian (Catholic) theologian old tired arguments of the 1980s and 90s are dragged out in this book: why women should be ordained to the priesthood, why gay and lesbian persons should be ordained to the priesthood - enough said! Being a Phillipino one's first assumption is that she is a Catholic which fact is always a good opener for radical feminist theologians. Looking into her background whatever she may have started out as her training and CV would make that seem unlikely.If you are a committed feminist and wish re-inforcement in process theology, (outdated) liberation theology, and the wide area known as neo-gnosticism - go to it!

It would be hard to exaggerate Jim McClellan's importance and influence on rail strategies in the1990's. Although this book is comprehensive, the stories not told are just as good as those that he shares with readers here. When definitive histories are written about this period, which was an inflection point in the transportation and rail history of North America, a careful researcher will bring it all to light. As written it is an excellent, if very personal, review of some of the key events in the forty year period covered by McClellan's rail career.I worked closely with Jim for twelve years (Strategic Planning and Intermodal were assigned, not accidentally, to the seventh floor of the new Norfolk Southern HQ in 1989). Jim was a rail fan, but more importantly, he was an incredibly intelligent, intuitive and creative architect of strategy and events in this formative era of railroad history.

Jim's work was behind the scene and often off radar, but he played the key role in shaping the railroads resurgence, sadly now very much endangered once again.

For me, nothing in railroading is more interesting and informative as the stories from the professionals. This book excels .

This book is an excellent inside review of the formation of Amtrak and Conrail, and then the split of Conrail into NS & CSX. McClellan was a rail fan and rail executive and much of what he writes is inside information I was not aware of. He also gives an excellent overview of the strengths and weaknesses of all the major railroads. This was a great read!

Another great "first hand" account of an insider revealing what goes on inside the railroad board rooms and decision making process.

I bought several cookbooks for my daughter (almost 3) for Christmas and this is one of my least favorite. It's not a bad book. The recipes we've tried so far are not that tasty. I do really like the intro, it includes pictures of kitchen tools and instructions on cooking basics, like separating an egg. But the recipes are difficult to follow.

Bought this for my toddler who is about 2.5 years old thinking this would be age appropriate based on thr title. The kids shown in this books are at least 4. They are NOT toddlers nor are the recipies for toddlers- lots of handeling of raw chicken!! Will be returning.

This was a gift for my grandson. My daughter-in -law was excited to try the recipes and liked the pictures. I have looked for a book for cooking with little ones and this was bright, interesting, and the dishes were not just snacks.

Granddaughter loved this book! It's easy to read and information is clear and the pictures are large and clear!

This cookbook has easy to follow directions and great pictures. ONLY issue I have is that alot of the items to cook are NOT things my child will eat (fish cakes) and some of the ingredients I am not able to get in my rural area. If we lived in large city, this might be easier to use, As it is, it sits on the cookbook shelf collecting dust. I think book looks great and had high hopes...

I wouldn't say this was for a toddler. Mom needs to do most of these recipes. But there are fun ideas.

At that time there was very little literature on the subject: “The New Private Pilot” 1959, published by Pan American Navigation Service, was written to study for the pilot examinations and tests. The rules for flying are embodied in the “Federal Aviation Regulations”(formalized as such in 1958). For a teenage autodidact in the ‘60s, trying to learn private piloting from these tomes was much like studying a foreign culture through reading the Dictionary. The books were supplemental to course study, which was also focused on passing the written and practical flying tests.“Performance Pilot”, published some 58 years after “The New Private Pilot” is all that the Amazon reviewers have praised it for. From my experience. it ads significantly to the succession of aviation books following the ‘60s. Some of these of note, “Weather Flying”, Robert N. Buck, 1970, known as the master of the subject, I was surprised that the date was later than I suspected; “Say again Please” 1995,is more than communications, it opens the student to the customs and protocols of flying (remember studying the foreign culture noted above); “The Killing Zone: How and Why Pilots Die” 2001, describes the period from 50 to 350 flight hours that are the deadliest for pilots simply because the pilot has left the instructor’s nest and is alone for the next 300 hours. There are others.Performance Pilot fills a needed view of the mental and physical performance of the pilot.
