I've been a Hanson Fan since 1997 and I had no opportunity to buy this book anywhere living in another country far from the US. Reading it I don't find anything new, but the fact I've got it makes me satisfied and happy, even if I'm already as old as Hanson brothers :)I think this book might be an interesting one for the new fans. And "must have" for some others)))

This is one of the first hanson books i had read... i had just become a fan a couple years ago and wanted some facts on my new band. So i borrowed a whole bunch of books from the library and out of all the books that i had read this was the only one that had true facts but not all of them are but about 97% is.but it is a must have for hanson fans.michelle

I think this is a great book! It has a lot about Hanson in it. Even though I already know a lot about them, but I found out a lot of things I never knew! It had some cool pictures, well, actually a lot of cool pictures!!!! I thought it was a really easy book to read, but I think that it's because I know so much about them already, and also I think that it is below my reading level because I am almost 15 in 9th grade and I read on a 11th or 12th grade reading level. But, I LOVE HANSON!!! This is a great book for Hanson Fans!!!

This book is just fine for fans,When I was Hanson fan I enjoyed it very much.It is a very full biography.Hard to believe Taylor is now married,huh?!

This is a required book for my intro Russian class. I don't learn languages from books well - I need to watch videos and hear the language being spoken. This book has been fine since I learned the alphabet and some other basics before being assigned to do homework from it.

Interesting book even though some of the Russian used is outdated compared to modern usage. Nevertheless it is a gem and enjoyed working with the writing skills, vocabulary, grammar, etc. A nice collectors book when used to compare with other more contemporary books in usage nowadays.

I am so excited to use this book! I need it for my language this semester, and although I understand that language books tend to be priced a little higher, I was so fortunate to find this for a great price! Thanks again!

I really liked this book because it is very reader-friendly for people who don't have experience with Russian. But, after I showed this book to my Russian friends, and my Russian professor from my University, they all said some vocabularies are out-dated.

Arthur Hertzberg first published this Zionism reader in 1959. That was long before the "new historians" (Israeli Jewish historians, that is) began to subject the self-congratulatory Zionist "narrative" to critical examination in light of Israeli documents covering the creation of the Israeli state began to be released in the 80s. In consequence, this is a very incomplete overview of the Zionist "idea," in which the Nakba (the permanent exile of many hundreds of thousands of indigenous Palestinian people to make way for the Jewish state in 1947-1949) hardly makes an appearance. In spite of this very serious blindspot, it's hard to find a more compact and well-considered compendium of foundational Zionist writers. Even students of Levant history like me who are entirely opposed to the core ideology of Zionism will find here a useful guide to its political, economic, spiritual, and philosophical foundations. These are not a series of manifestly odious Mein Kampf tracts. They are serious writings of sincere men (no women here) trying to grapple with the condition of Jews in a European world that rejected and often oppressed them. Their ideas deserve our respect, even if, with the benefit of hindsight, we now can see how they contained the seeds of the moral and political disaster of Israel-Palestine today.

This book is a classic and is richly deserving of all the praise it has gotten and the many, many copies that have been sold.

This book can be useful as a nice supplement on Zionist thought. As claimed, it assembles essays by some of the most famous architects of Zionism in competing schools, such as Theodor Herzl, Ahad Ha'am, Rabbi Kook, Vladimir Jabotinsky, Ber Borochov, Max Nordau, etc.. However, for those seeking a single reader of Zionist thought (e.g., for a course on the topic) it falls far short. Like any editor, Hertzberg faces a task inherently constrained by space, but his selections are sometimes capricious and would be misleading to readers who want to trust that a particular essay is truly representative of that author's thought. This volume may be worth buying to get key passages such as, say, Herzl's conception of the Jewish people in his seminal work The Jewish State and Klatzkin's critique of the Jewish diaspora (galut) in one volume. But those familiar with this field and especially those concerned with Zionist conceptualizations of Palestine's indigenous population will find key arguments missing. This book shouldn't be used in isolation from skilled historical analyses of Zionism such as Yoram Hazony's The Jewish State: The Struggle For Israel's Soul, Walter Laquer's A History of Zionism: From the French Revolution to the Establishment of the State of Israel or canonical critical studies such as Avi Shlaim's The Iron Wall. Which means that, for courses, it may not be worth the money.

This book is first and foremost a gathering of original primary sources material, and as such it is an important addition to any library or student of Zionism. That being said, it is a collection of speeches and writings, and as such it must judged by what was excluded as much as by what is included. To include Rabbi Mohilever but exclude Zangwill, and to dedicate a combined 45 pages to Klatzkin, Ahad Ha-Am, and Berdichevski while affording Jabotinsky and Ben-Gurion only a mere 5 pages combined, speaks volumes about the authors agenda and point of view. This is to be expected from an author whose view point on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict as well as American Jews - Israel relations were rejected and dismissed by both Golda Meir and Begin. The Introduction has a pronounced Rabbinical, Diaspora, 'civil rights-like' slant and the selected material reflects the authors bias. It may reflect some of the Zionist ideas, but certainly not The Zionist Idea.

Each selection is preceded by a 2-page synopsis of the thinker.Although compiled decades ago, the writings are timeless and the commentary feels fresh. This edition is from 1997, so maybe they did some edits to keep it fresh.This material is just begging to be read by anyone with even the vaguest interest in Israel. History repeats itself, and by reading this, it becomes clear that the struggle for the basic Jewish right to self-determination continues to this very day. The need for a Jewish homeland and the conflict in 2011 have both been ongoing since the inception of modern Zionism. Read for yourself.Make this available on the Kindle!

This remains the most comprehensive collection of Zionist thought, and the introductory notes to selected writings from the various schools of thought within the movement are clear and well written. One caution: it is a work for college-level or graduate level study, and not appropriate for younger readers.

Excellent cookbook

Good recipes. Mandy Patinkin is a favorite of mine.

Delicious recipes and fun to read.

Love this Jewish Cookbook but I love having pictures also to show what my food should look like. The pictures are in red and white...disappointed in that part. The cookbook offers lots of recipes but not in color.

Tried and true recipes - excellent book.

I love this cookbook! I'm biased because she's my grandmother, though...but seriously, try the gazpacho mold :)

Made the chicken soup and pureed the vegetables which made a much creamer soup. It was delicious.

What a disappointment. Although this cookbook has some interesting recipes and could probably be considered a good cookbook, it is definitely not a Jewish cookbook. Several of the recipes include shrimp and crab meat and a number of the menus combine meat and dairy. The preface includes a statement that the book "is not a kosher cookbook" but the online description failed to include that warning.

When he is not involved in expansion, he manages the renovation and expansion of existing buildings, often with historic significance. He is familiar with a variety of project delivery methods, from traditional design-bid-build to design-build; well versed in program management; and has a keen eye for schedule and cost control. The authors tackle a complex subject - managing international development and construction projects - from two unique perspectives. First, they argue that border cities are better than border walls, since they attract people and economic activities that bring life, instead of a barrier to human activity and energy. I liked this chapter a lot. In the rest of the book, they share their opinion that, when confronted with corruption at the top of a project (which they have experienced first-hand), it's better to avoid trying to fight it head on through the courts or the press. Instead, they argue that corrupt senior managers (who have goals different from the "real" project) tend to lose interest in the project's original goals as they pursue their own secret objectives. Project managers who realize this can therefore pursue those stated goals and achieve them even as the (corrupt) managers divert some (but not all) project resources to achieve their different objectives. Best of all, the authors show how to do it - a surprising lesson for any reader.

Carr's books were classics, butr I had outgrown them. I have many antenna boojs from ARRL and RSGB, so I ordered this expecting this to be a bit elementary. When I flipped through it on arrival, it seems to confirm my expectations. But I kept it by the throne, and as I read various sections, I started to appreciate the book for several significant features. First the update reorganizes the material so the flow is from basic to advanced. Second, the writing is very good; this means that technical points are much easier to understand. Third, as I read through sections, it made me excited by new projects. I am now planning to create a simple dipole to listen to Jupiter on 19 Mhz - I never imagined it might be feasible to create a radio telescope so easily.I continue to find fascinating ideas, now look forward to my daily ablutions, which have become signficiant input sessions. Very highly recommended.

Carr's Practical Antenna Handbook is a thick volume that tries - mostly successfully - to balance technical detail against practicality. I can follow the book without any issue, but do find it heavy going in a few places. I've found it mostly useful when looking for details and insight into one particular antenna type. While I find antennas interesting, like most amateur radio operators, aside from the introductory material and the coverage of dipoles, which everyone should read, the idea of reading the book in linear fashion cover-to-cover is daunting, besides unnecessary.This handbook is also a good alternative to the ARRL Antenna book at roughly half the price of the latter. The printed version is better quality than the ARRL book. I bought the Kindle version and am entirely happy with it (including the price, responding to one complaint).

This is a book that I am happy to call a member of my collection of antenna books. The book first of all is *readable* not being either a compendium of example antennas others have created that may or may not work, nor is it a book full of old antenna information the foundation for which might date back 80 years and be suspect. It is an up to date treatment of different types of antennas, some theory justifying them, and is exquisitely well-illustrated. Included as well are sections on modern antenna modeling as well as modern means of troubleshooting antenna systems. The book's author is a renowned expert in amateur radio operating and antenna systems. He has always been willing to help others achieve a better understanding of their stations and operation. In short the author's background is perfect to write a Practical Antenna Handbook - someone who knows the theory, practices it avidly and uses his antenna system in frequent operation. I recommend this book to anyone with an interest in antennas, regardless of prior background.

This is so much better than the ARRL Antenna Book (which this same author has also been involved with over the years). At half the price. Joseph Carr is very well known name in Amateur Radio, and greatly missed too. He is/was probably the best there is at taking difficult topics and parsing them down and making them accessible to the general reader, without dumbing it down to the point of uselessness. Everything in this book is useful, and as the title touts, Practical.This book starts with some basic concepts and gradually build them up until the reader is working with some very deep aspects of RF transmission and propagation. It is comprehensive without being overwhelming. I would also recommend any of Mr Carr's other books dealing with radio electronics.

Kindle version - I'm barely up to chapter 2 on this book, On chapter one there is a link to a McGrawHill web site for additional resources that leads to a non existing page. Does anybody know were is the correct page? Other than that IS quite clear so far, no high level mathematics or dense theory. I bought this book because I just bought a Zenith Trans-Oceanic radio and want to install an Antenna in my house that does justice to the radio, nothing more. I'll let you know latter if the book was helpful for that.

Everything you need to know about any antenna, matching network or any other topic associated with antennas is directly located in the chapter you are reading. You do not have to search for anything...it is there! Filled with proven, workable antenna examples, it is a joy to read. Enthusiastically written, it is extremely concise, and accurate on every topic imaginable. The actual examples presented in this book will make you want to try them all. Finally a reference manual on the â€œhow toâ€, and why the antenna you are planning to design will be incredible! It is the best Antenna Handbook ever!

I picked this up because I had a passing in interest in getting my HAM license. This was very helpful illustrating the basics. It goes far beyond what you need for the HAM license. The book has sparked a greater interest and I will likely keep studying just because I am intrigued by the variation in the different types of antennas. So, in this respect the book was a very good stepping stone to more technical aspects of the design.

My co-worker has an earlier edition. I have used his book for years with great satisfaction. Decided to get my own. New edition is even better!This book is a good intermediate level book for people who have a working knowledge of RF and antennas. As the title indicates, it is a "Practial" handbook. I recommend it as such.

Thank God I purchased this cookbook! I always love trying new recipes and sometimes I come across bad and good cookbooks. I think this cookbook is one of the good ones I have come across. Even without enough recipe images I was still able to follow the recipe guides. Also the Instant Pot recipes I have tried so far tasted great! Thanks to James Zimmerman!
