I purchased Blood Ninja not expecting much (a ninja vampire story-how silly)but hoping to get some seventh graders interested in our Japan unit. I enjoyed the story so much that I purchased Blood Ninja II right away! The characters are very human and the story includes information about Japan, the feudal society, the code of the samurai, and ninja lengends that I can refer to in class. Four students have already read it and recommended it to friends. Any book that can get 7th grade boys to read is a hit-but the fact that I could refer to this during class was even better!

Book has arrived. Thank you!!!!

A white guy writing Japanese fiction? No way! What a rare treat! Honestly though, Lake did a great job of not coming off as a fanboy. He knew his history and culture and made good use of it. The story itself took a cliched period drama and injected it with the vampire craze. This isn't something that is really innovative for nerds like me but for those who haven't experienced wuxia it will be a new experience.

Bottom Of The Ninth is finally here. It seems like I have waited years. While I have loved both Jax ( Swing For The Fences ), and Zach's ( Second Chance Hero) stories, Bottom Of The Ninth officially owns my heart. Bottom Of The Ninth is the third book in the Bad Boys Redemption Series and is an interconnected standalone. Mia and Aj's story is told in dual POV,, and I absolutely adored being able to live in each of their heads, and getting to see their thought process. Even though this book is centered around baseball, I feel like it was easy to forget that it was indeed about an actual baseball player because Aj and Mia's story had actual depth. It went way deeper than a professional baseball player vying for a woman's attention. Bottom Of The Ninth hit topics, that I did not expect. It definitely pulled at my heartstrings multiple times, but still had this amazing banter that went back and fourth that did way more than hold my attention. In my honest opinion I also feel like this book was about self discovery. It was amazing to watch ( I say watch, because Bottom Of The Ninth was like watching a movie in my mind) Mia and Aj find themselves in a way that not even they was expecting.Aj Gonzales is a two time World Series Catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is not only a professional baseball player with amazing chocolate eyes, but is super smart too. Having a past that seems to drag along with him, he is set in his ways when it comes to women. Pretty much one and done, never settling down, which he is content with because he has his career to worry about as well as his sister. He's the heart throb hottie that has a huge soft spot for his baby sister and his mom.Mia Gunner is the blonde hair, blue eyed beauty that finds joy in the littlest things, like a paint brush and canvas. Having been through so many things in her life, she has a backbone the size of Texas. She is not the shy girl, everyone always thought she was, she is the woman that will crush you if you come her her. Having her dreams laid out in front of her, nothing will step in the way.Bottom Of The Ninth is told in the past and present, but is tastefully done. Each with just the right of information, and leaving you wanting more. Kimberly has an amazing writing style, that will hold your attention until the story is over. I am so grateful that I gave this author a chance when I read the first book in this series. Ii can not wait to see what else she comes out with.

EEEKKKKK!!!! We get the story of AJ Gonzales!!!! The delicious catcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, is the victim of Mia Gunner, a girl he ghosted years before (even if he had his reasons). Apparently she is still bitter and gets her revenge by making him dress as a creepy elf for the charity calendar that she is shooting.This two person POV book flashes back to tell Mia and AJ’s history, and how he broke her heart, and fast forwards to today, and how they try to reunite. I LOVE both of these characters!!!I Freaking Loved this whole series!!! Even though this can be a standalone, the whole series is amazing, and I completely recommend reading the whole series! The past characters blend into this book and help develop the storyline. Book one ~ Swing for the Fences, Book two ~ Second Chance Hero, and Book three ~ Bottom of the NinthKimberly Readnour is an amazing author!!! She has a wonderful writing style and I really enjoy her books. She has a wonderful flow to her stories and this book has humor, love, heartbreak, and intensity. The characters are so yummy in all her books and…baseball! YEP! Definite plus in my book!

"Arc of Empire" is really several books in one. At its core is a survey of the four wars America fought in Asia in the 20th century: the Philippines (against insurgents), World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Unlike many military histories, the authors don't just tell the U.S. side of the story, but also consider the political goals and homefront attitudes of America's enemies. Better yet, the book analyzes these wars within the context of America's century-long attempt to fashion an Asian political order hospitable to U.S. interests and amenable to U.S. domination. Finally, the book is a polemic against the ignorance and hubris of American neo-colonialism, pouring scorn on Washington's habit of supporting dictators and wreaking destruction on alien peoples whenever it suits U.S. strategic goals (all in the name of "democracy" and "uplift"). Up to three million people died during the U.S. phase of Vietnam's war for independence. Only 55,000 of them were American GIs. Americans still mourn their loss, but it was tiny compared to the holocaust inflicted on the Vietnamese. How many Americans cry for them?While "Arc of Empire" doesn't break new historiographic ground, it is filled with wise reflections on America's role in Asia. I have only two real complaints: First, by framing its analysis around these four wars, the book neglects America's relations with other important Asian countries (such as Nationalist China, Indonesia, and Thailand). Second, although the authors define what they mean by "empire" very carefully, I'm unconvinced that it's a useful concept for understanding America's war against Japan or even the Korean War. Those conflicts seem unlike the Vietnam War and the counter-insurgency in the Philippines. Nevertheless, "Arc of Empire" is a fabulous book. Highly recommended.

Two really solid academics combine their skills to discuss the US's long history of warfare in Asia. It's a must read as the Obama administration "pivot" to Asia.

i would rate this book as average; not too much to distinguish it from some other political histories i have read; i thought it worthwhile but not an outstanding book by any means

Book is excellent,BUT THE BINDING HAS ALREADY BROKEN!!!!! Very good text. (I am self studying the material) I hope never to buy from this publisher again. I had to remove the binding and staple each chapter so the book could be read.

It was easier to gather the concepts by reading original peer-reviewed articles than trying to get it from this textbook. The style is confusing and the graphs are not well explained. One might find it palatable if one has a background in economics but for those to whom the subject is new, this textbook definitely not a good starting point. And chapter 3 is a joke: its title "statistical tools for health economics" promises an explanation of econometric statistics but instead delivers a shallow introduction to basic statistical concepts. If you have taken statistics before, you will find the chapter poor. I wonder how I would have found the rest, had I taken economics before.

intresting reading. very conceptional，lack of practic example and case study. require basic calculars math background in understand the model setting. topics are very broad to cover all you need to know，but it doesnot provide enought extension.

Chapters are each about 20 pages long. Well explained, just enough detail. Not overly simplified nor overly complicated. Chapter summaries helpful; and questions for deeper exploration into topics if desired.

Well written. Great resource for my students.

Excellent resource that explores quite a bit of the ArcGIS Pro program’s functionality. Current with latest release of software.

I'm an ArcMap user and needed to learn ArcGIS Pro in two weeks for an interview. I grabbed two workbooks, and I found this workbook to be fun to use because it follows a large scale project through the whole process while showing me how I should go about planning a large scale GIS project.*** Project includes finding vacant locations around the LA River that could be turned into parks, given specific parameters. (see photos)
