Review

"...[It] is a fascinating document, not only of the punk scene of the early and middle 1970s but more generally of New York City in its years of chaos, decay and creative energy." —Luc Sante, New York Times"Although most well-known for his iconic images of Debbie Harry, which were documented in his book Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk, Chris Stein’ was shooting plenty of other subjects in 1970s New York City. His new book Point of View collects these often overlooked personal frames into a single place." —Popular Photography"A far cry from the New York that Sinatra extolled, the city as depicted in the photographer and Blondie co-founder Chris Stein’s new book of images from the 1970s and 80s, Point of View: Me, New York City, and the Punk Scene, is certainly rough around the edges." —Art Newspaper "Who better to document the gritty punk heyday of ‘70s NYC than one of its most influential luminaries? Blondie founder/guitarist Chris Stein’s new collection of vintage photographs feature iconic scenesters from William Burroughs to Debbie Harry, Andy Warhol to Iggy Pop, all set against “New York City streetscapes in all their most longed-for romance and dereliction.”—Insdie Hook

A beautiful book featuring pictures of a gritty NYC in all its glory. The photography of city streets, people, and celebrities are showcased through Chris Stein’s artistic eye. The book features never before seen shots of Debbie Harry that are stunning. Every turn of the page was exciting and stimulating in its depiction of life in the City.

This is an excellent book that takes a look at everyday life of regular people living in New York City. There's only a handful of photos featuring Debbie Harry and other punk rock icons. The bulk of the book are beautiful black and white photos of New York City during '70s.

I was never a punk rocker. Thier music is creative and Debbie had the style, moves, and vocal to propel this professional group to the top charts. Yes we think of Debbie when we hear blonde. But hey thats the name you gave your group !! It’s like Fleetwood Mac and Heart. Same thing. The individual musicians make the whole. I would be very gratified as your book portrays. It’s to bad I never got to meet you all. I was head over heals in my twenties for Debbie. You have made your mark. Great books. Wish you didn’t have to struggle so much. Cheers.

Greatest pictures love this book

I love this book. Stein is a gifted artist on multiple platforms and this book is exactly what I was anticipating - excellent. His writing is very personal and brief regarding the photos. Leaves you wishing for more.

A fascinating glimpse of the formative years of one of the co-founders of Blondie.

Is it as good as the previous collection? No. But, what is?

This book is an excellent collection of photographs that capture the true essence of New York City in its former glory/decay.
