These are great stories full of pondering adages. I ordered this for my husband after our trip to see Borobudur as the first level of the complex has art inspired by these stories. I love asking him to tell me the stories over and then he also likes to bring them up over dinner or with friends to see what people conclude the moral of the story is. Everyone has different interpretations which are splendid and gives one a lot to think about.

I grew up on fairy tales, dark stories with ambiguous meanings. These short little stories set in Asia are gentler, simpler, and yet interesting to children and adults.They make perfect bedtimes stories because you can indulge your child and read two or three! She enjoys choosing just which ones she feels like hearing tonight. The pantheon of clever animals and simple peasants seems superior to me to all the royalty and witches of traditional fairy tales. You definitely don't need to have Buddhist leanings to enjoy these; most of them would be just as applicable to Christianity.

This book is full of some great stories to share with your kids. Each story has a unique lesson to be learned about life, kindness, forgiveness, and more. A great read for all. My kids really enjoyed the stories and the beautiful pictures.

The illustrations in this book are incredibly lovely. They just made me want to tear them out and have them framed. I also enjoyed the selection of stories. It is definitely a book "for children of all ages," as the saying goes. Perhaps I should mention that the text requires reading ability beyond that of young people in the early grades. But one can read aloud to younger children...

At first my kids didn't want me to read this for them. After all they mostly read their own books now, but after I started reading for them they couldn't get enough of it. We read a story and then discuss the message in the story. Sometimes if the kids are in a dilemma we will refer back to the wisdom stories and say, what did you learn from the story. My oldest son took the book and started reading it on his own. It's a great book for both kids and adults.

very good book. My son is 6 yrs old and really loves the variety of stories and the stories themselves. We talk about the lessons learned. We both enjoy that some lessons have humor to them. They have wisdom and are an enjoyable read. I recommend this book greatly for a child of 5 to 9 yrs old.

My daughter and I love this book. She's almost ten and reads at a high level, but the lessons behind the stories and the questions brought up are long and thoughtful conversations. I would recommend this book for any age - I enjoy the stories as much as she does - sometimes more!!!!

I bought this a few years ago for my then 5 year old son. He's 7 now and still likes it. When we get bored reading the usual books or plots, this is one book we turn to for a more unpredictable story and characters. It would make a great gift too. The stories are 1-2 pages long. Most of the stories are just 1 page. The pictures are cool.

This book was really invaluable for my plant biology class. It's not always possible to get a good photo of your slides during lab so it's nice to have this to refer back to when studying for exams. Has all the parts clearly labeled and also has the specific life cycles of the plants and algae. I struggled with finding and remembering the correct structures and this was a very helpful resource for me. I originally thought it might not be worth purchasing but I'm very glad I did. Loose leaf kind of sucks of course but I popped it in a three ring binder so it's not that annoying. Very clear and easy to understand. Fun book just to have around.

We found this collection of images to be a good resource and study guide. And although it is not a bound-book in the traditional sense (it is a nice collection of finely detailed photos and drawings you can keep in a three-hole binder) I especially like it b'cuz it is easy to remove just single page to examine more closely - you dont have to carry an extra book around. This is more a supplemental study guide than a stand alone text. The images are beautiful and I'm Glad to have it!

I bought this book to compliment my lab manual from a different publisher. I liked this one much better than the manual that we were required to have as the pictures were much easier to study and the ease at which I could look up different phyla of plants made this book a five star in my mind.

Use it as I tutor students having difficulty in biology. Easy to understand.

This ACSM Certified Personal Trainer Certification prep booklet is amazing. It contains all the content needed to pass this exam. Every chapter is easy to read. The print isn't tiny. There are pictures and graphs to demonstrate how to take pulse readings and etc. Also, there are chapter highlights and case study scenarios to study as well. I loved how the variety of content that was designed to help me study for this test. After reading this, I felt more confident in my preparation for this examination. Absolutely, incredible...well-organized, and test questions with answers included. Overall, I highly recommend this book to all.I received this copy from the publisher. This is my voluntary review.

I teach in a related profession and one area many of my students (as well as peers) show an interest in is the ACSM. It's a nice add-on to their college degree and helps many students shed pounds while earning money. Whether as a side job during college or as a change of pace full-time career, this book helps prepare with essential knowledge, skills and other learning necessary to pass the test. Clear, concise and to the point.

About the Author

Sand C. Chang, PhD, is a Chinese American nonbinary psychologist and trainer. They are the clinical practice consultant for Kaiser Permanente Northern California Transgender Services. They also have a private practice in Oakland, CA, specializing in trauma/EMDR, addictions, and eating disorders. Sand served on the task force that authored the 2015 APA Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Transgender and Gender Nonconforming Clients, and is past chair of the American Psychological Association (APA) Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity (CSOGD). Outside of their professional work, Sand is a dancer, avid foodie, and pug enthusiast.Anneliese A. Singh, PhD, LPC, is a professor and associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the college of education at the University of Georgia. Singh is cofounder of the Georgia Safe Schools Coalition to work on reducing heterosexism, transprejudice, racism, and other oppressions in Georgia schools. She is also cofounder of the Trans Resilience Project, where she translated her findings from fifteen years of research on trans people’s resilience to oppression into practice and advocacy efforts. She is author of The Queer and Transgender Resilience Workbook. She’s delivered widely viewed TedX Talks, and recorded a podcast for APA on her research with transgender youth and resilience.lore m. dickey, PhD, is a behavioral health consultant at North Country HealthCare in Bullhead City, AZ.
